"Mrs. Reel," as she was known to us in the Forest Service in 1971 and 1972 was a great logger. Her first husband, Art Morgan, died in 1960, and Edith married Ted Reel in 1963. Ted was killed in an accident that occurred as his logs were being unloaded only eight months after he and Edith were married. Tim, Mrs. Reel's grandson, accompanied me on my hike to Revett Lake, and we stopped by the cemetery to pay our respects after our hike and our trip to Clark Fork to see Tim's mother.

Molly B' Damn

This is the grave of a lady by the name of Maggie Hall who took the name "Molly Burdan" after marrying a gentleman whose last name was Burdan. By the time she arrived in Murray, ID, during the gold rush days, she had become a prostitute. When she was asked her name by someone, they thought she said "Molly B' Damn," instead of "Molly Burdan." Of course, from that day on she was known as "Molly B' Damn." She truly had a heart of gold, and she saved the lives of a woman and a sick child by giving up her ride in a pack train from Thompson Falls, MT, over Thompson Pass, and down to Murray, ID, in the winter. She walked, so that the woman and child could ride. Molly also treated many sick people when the town of Murray was hit by an epidemic of some sort.

Wallace is a very historic little town. As a matter of fact, the entire town has been placed on the "National Register of Historic Places." I was standing at the intersection of Bank Street and 6th Street, the "Center of the Universe," as proclaimed by the mayor of Wallace and designated by small signs on the street corners, when I took this picture looking west down Bank Street. The town of Wallace was used in the movie "Dante's Peak," and the manager of my motel was an "extra" in the movie.
